Austin Vannatta led the Lions with 12 points, and his brother Andrew had 11 in a Mid State League-Cardinal Division loss Tuesday to the Roughriders. Greg Underwood added 10 for the Lions (2-12, 0-9)

Taylor Dickson had 23 points, with five 3-pointers, to lead the Lions to their first MSL-Cardinal championship since 1999 in a win against the Bobcats.

Taylor Moore had 16 points and nine rebounds. Emily Shook and Morgan Kirkbride had six points each. Kirkbride had nine assists for Liberty Union (16-2, 12-0).

GAHANNA -- As 16 teams competed at the Mid-State League swim meet Saturday, the atmosphere at Columbus Academy was one of unity.

They might have been on different teams Saturday, but most of the swimmers who competed share club teams in the area, creating a unique atmosphere where members of different teams cheered each other on.

Liberty Union's girls basketball team gets road scare against Berne Union

SUGAR GROVE -- With an unexpected challenge from a feisty home team Friday, Taylor Dickson ensured Liberty Union would keep its perfect Mid State League-Cardinal Division record.

Dickson had 24 points and eight rebounds, making seven consecutive shots during the second half as the Lions held off Berne Union, 49-38.

Liberty Union plays inspired in win against Millersport

BALTIMORE -- Liberty Union wasn't satisfied with its four-point win Saturday against Licking Heights, and took it out on visiting Millersport on Monday.

In an exercise in excellence, the Lions showed why they're the best team in the Mid-State League in their 90-8 win against the Lakers.
