To All Connected to Liberty Union-Thurston Schools,

The daily updates from previous days dating back to March 16th can be found on this link:  http://www.libertyunion.org/COVID-19Information.aspx

Updated: April 8, 2020 at 5:00 P.M.

The Liberty Union-Thurston Local School Board will convene for its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, April 13th at 7:00 P.M.  In order to abide by the “stay at home” order from Governor Mike Dewine, the meeting will be live streamed for the public. To view the meeting in progress, please use this link at 7:00 P.M. on Monday the 13th https://youtu.be/yZz9Gb98l10

Beginning April 15th, wifi access will be available to students at each school building parking lot.  Please practice social distancing parameters while in the parking lots as this is not a reason for groups of students to congregate.   Students can utilize their school issued Chromebooks and access the student wifi.

This is a reminder that food service is available for all children under the age of 18. Everyone is eligible; there is no need to complete an application, or qualify for free and reduced lunches to receive this food. Please contact Jan Friedrich by email at jan.friedrich@libertyunion.org or 614-579-8807 to provide the number of children under 18 in your household.

A weekly allocation of meals will be ready for curbside pick every MONDAY from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. behind the middle school building. There is also a Thurston pick up location from 4:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M.

Even though we are on Spring Break on Monday the 13th, we will STILL have weekly food pick up this day.

The district will not be responsible for monitoring food allergies during this time. However, if your child has a severe allergy to peanut butter, please let us know, as we will routinely be using Uncrustables.

The Liberty Union-Thurston School District will honor its originally planned Spring Break beginning this Friday, April 10th through Tuesday, April 14th.  Teachers will not assign work for completion on these days and will not be required to respond to work related emails until April 15th. We encourage everyone to take a break from the computer during these days.

  • Each week all parents will receive an email from our school counselors with resources that might be helpful during this extended distance learning time period.

  • Three emails have been sent out as of this date. If you did not get the emailed resources, please email jennifer.blackstone@libertyunion.org so that she can add your name to the parent list.

  • The topics for this week were 1. Dealing with Disappointment, Uncertainty, or Lack of Answers, and 2. Spring Break

The Liberty Union Middle School Sixth Grade Outdoor Education trip has been officially postponed.  The new dates for the trip are this fall, September 2nd through the 4th.

The Liberty Union Administrative Team meets each Monday to discuss the on-going COVID-19 school closure situation.  Current topics of discussion are: Fourth quarter grading policies and grade promotion and the re-scheduling of key events such as Graduation and Prom.  If you have specific questions that you would like the Administrative Team to address and communicate using these updates, please send an email to jennifer.blackstone@libertyunion.org
