March 20th Update

March 20, 2020

To All Connected to Liberty Union-Thurston Schools,

The Liberty Union COVID-19 Information webpage has a collection of all the daily updates dating back to March 16, 2020. Updates will be made Monday through Friday unless there is critical information or an announcement of great importance to share.

Updated: March 20, 2020 at 6:15 P.M.

FOOD SERVICE CHANGE

  • Free meal food service is continuing for children up to age 18.

  • Beginning next Monday, March 23rd, the food service plan will be slightly different.

  • We will offer weekly meal pick up rather than daily.

  • Pick up will be from 4:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. on Mondays.

  • Curbside pick-up will still be held at the back of the middle school building. However, we may expand to using the front loop as well.  Look for posted signs if this does occur.

  • Sign up is highly encouraged, but not required.

  • If weekly pick up is not completed on Monday, families will be given food for Monday and Tuesday and asked to return on Wednesday to get food for the remainder of the week.

  • The Thurston location pick up will continue as it has been.

  • The district will not be responsible for monitoring food allergies during this time. However, if your child has a severe allergy to peanut butter, please let us know, as we will routinely be using Uncrustables.

  • If you plan to participate in the curbside pickup, please contact Jan Friedrich with the number of children at [email protected] or text 614-579-8807 in order for us to better serve your students.

OPERATIONS AND BUILDING ACCESS

  • All school buildings are now closed. Only those staff members that have responsibilities regarding essential district operations, cleaning facilities, or assisting with food service will have access.

  • For access to the buildings, contact the following people to make an appointment:

  • All athletic facilities, including outdoor locations, are closed.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT CHROMEBOOKS

  • Students should be accessing their educational materials using their Google accounts. Even if students are using their own devices (PCs, laptops, MacBooks, phones, etc.), they should login to their Google accounts.

  • Logging into their Google accounts will help the district report attendance if this becomes a requirement. Also, the district filters are in place to keep our students safe while utilizing the Internet.

  • Online meetings with teachers should take place using Google Meets.  Click HERE for a Google Meets Cheat Sheet
