To All Connected to Liberty Union-Thurston Schools,

We are currently mid way through the seventh week of remotely learning.  Ironically, time is both flying by and seemingly paused all at once. These updates will continue until May 21st (our last day of school). This update focuses on the weekly School Counselor email that you will be getting on the topic of Internet Safety.

INTERNET SAFETY

Due to this extended closure, students are spending more time than ever online on their Chromebooks, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices.  While sometimes it seems our students know more than we do about technology, we wanted to take this week to share resources about internet and social media safety. If you did not get the email from the School Counselors with these internet safety resources, please email [email protected] to be added to the contact list.

While our schools have the ability to monitor searches and activity on school issued Chromebooks, we know it is not realistic for you to be watching every click your child might make when on their personal devices.  Young people are often quick to make decisions without thinking through the potential consequences (due largely to their stage in brain development), so it can be up to the adults in their lives to help guide them in learning how to best use online resources and social media.
