To All Connected to Liberty Union-Thurston Schools,

The following message is from Mr. Matt Gallatin, High School Principal:

LUHS Juniors and Seniors-

I hate to make this announcement, but due to the social distancing and mass gathering restrictions, we will have to cancel this year's prom. In talking with many students and members of the prom committee, we would like to give you the opportunity to share in a different kind of special day.  Saturday, May 9th (the date we were supposed to hold prom), we would like for you to share a “snapshot” of our so-called "virtual" prom.  I know many of you have already purchased your dresses or suits, so I encourage you to get dressed up for some pictures at your home.  Maybe even have your parents or siblings assist with your hair.  Take some pictures from your porch, back yard, patio, deck, or your own “Enchanted Garden.” (That was to be our theme this year.)  Please remember the social distancing guidelines as outlined by the State of Ohio, but get some fun snapshots that you would like to share with our school family and community.

This is also a great opportunity for you to create some fun social media videos of your backyard dance moves!

Additionally, we would like to still honor the tradition of King and Queen, so please click HERE, to submit your votes for the 2020 LUHS King and Queen! The king and queen will be announced on Saturday evening via Twitter and Remind.

Your photos will be forever documented in the LUHS yearbook so make sure to submit them to [email protected]

We look forward to seeing your pictures and hopefully seeing all of you soon!

Go Lions!

CHROMEBOOK COLLECTION

The district has decided that we will not be collecting the school issued Chromebooks at the end of this school year.  We would like the students to continue to have access to a variety of educational software programs throughout the summer.  Access to these online programs will continue until July 31st.  The Administrative Team is currently working on plans for collection of library and textbooks and the distribution of Summer Learning Program Workbooks.

GRADUATION & AWARDS CEREMONIES

No final decisions have been made on these events, but the plans will be coming out soon. Many scenarios are being discussed and presented to the School Board for feedback and approval.

FOOD SERVICES

This is a reminder that food service is available for all children under the age of 18. At this time, food service will continue until June 30th, but we are researching how to continue it longer.  More details about summer meal pick up will be forthcoming.

Currently, a weekly allocation of meals will be ready for curbside pick every MONDAY from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. behind the middle school building. There is also a Thurston pick up location from 4:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M.

Sincerely,

Liberty Union-Thurston Local School District
