5th Grade Invention Convention
Liberty Union Middle School held the 2015-2016 Invention Convention on March 16th. All 5th graders participated! The students worked using the Scientific Method to come up with a problem and an invention to solve the problem. Students did an awesome job presenting to the Judges. Students presented a Scientific Journal, a prototype of their Invention, and a Trifold poster board. A big shout out to all the parents and students- all the inventions were fantastic!! Student Created History Documentaries
8th grade U.S. History students have been learning various aspects of creating informative documentaries. Students had to conduct research, access both objective and subjective sources, and relay this information in a creative way. Here's one example on the legendary John Brown.
School Communication Self Update
Liberty Union uses a communication service called One Call Now. You can update or make changes to how the school communicates with you. When you recieve a call, you can push the "6" button on your phone to remove yourself from our database and you will no longer recieve calls from the school. You can also make changes to your account by following the One Call Now link under the Parents and Students menu located at the top of the website or
Math Competition
Several students competed in the Fairfield Christian Academy math competition on March 19th. Nick Buskirk won two first place awards, Alex Potts and Josh Donald also won first place awards. Macy Bethel earned two second place awards and a third place award. The 6th grade team (pictured) won the event and the 5th grade team placed second. Congrats to all of our mathletes!
Fairfield County District Science Fair
On March 19, nine LUMS 8th graders competed at the Fairfield County district science fair. Derek Burns, Tucker Meachem, Jakob Burkett and Ethan Kaper all qualified for state science fair which will take place at The Ohio State University. Congratuations to all of our young scientists for their great work!
Fairfield County Spelling Bee
Congratulations to Reagan Farmer for earning the "Top Female Speller" spot and placing in the top ten in the Fairfield County spelling bee. Katrina Freisner (8th grade) and Scott Bader (6th grade) also competed in the March 19 competition.
Career Exploration Summer Camp
The Eastland Career Center will be holding a FREE Career Exploration Summer Camp for current 6th, 7th and 8th graders on June 8, 9, and 10. Free busing will be provided to and from LUMS to the camp.
