COVID Protocol for LUTSD

COVID Protocol

The following is intended to provide updated guidance for our district’s mask protocol, identification of confirmed COVID cases, and case tracking following the confirmed identification:

  • There currently are NO mandates regarding masks, vaccinations, and social distancing in the school setting.

  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) mandated that masks shall be worn while using public transportation (e.g. school busses) and remains in place. There are NO other mandates regarding masks.

  • It is highly recommended that staff members and students who are eligible for vaccinations be vaccinated.

  • It is highly recommended, but not mandated that those who are unvaccinated wear masks while inside our facilities and outdoors when there are crowded situations.

  • It is recommended, but not mandated that those who are unvaccinated and not wearing a mask work to maintain, to the greatest degree possible, three feet of social distance indoors and outside when there are crowded situations.

  • When a medically identified COVID case is received, the appropriate school district personnel will notify FDH. FDH officials will take the information and advise our personnel. FDH will communicate with the identified COVID case and provide directions for quarantining.

  • Designated school district personnel will then identify all individuals (case tracking) in close contact of the positive case and will report those individuals to FDH. FDH will reference the information and contact individuals and/or families and provide direction about quarantining.

  • The District will inform the identified staff members and parents/guardians of students that they were identified as being exposed to a positive COVID case. They will be informed that their names will be reported to the health department and that representatives from FDH will be contacting them to provide instructions, including possible quarantining.

I will communicate changes in the above protocol as the situations ebb and flow. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Mike Johnson

Superintendent of Schools
