UPDATED: Important Information for High School Students and Families for Tier 2 - Hybrid Model

Liberty Union High School - Tier 2 Reminders

  • Doors will not be opened until 7:25. Please do not drop your student off before that time. Students that are dropped off or drive will need to wait in their cars until that time.

  • The school day begins at 7:50 and ends at 2:15. Please note the end time of 2:15 is different this year.

  • Please see new updates in red.

Entry and Exit in the Building

There will only be 3 entrances into the building: the double doors near the firehouse, the main double doors in front of the school, and the double doors near the greenhouse. If your student’s last name begins with A-F or M-S and is being dropped off or driving their own vehicle, he or she will enter through the doors near the firehouse. If your student’s last name begins with G-L or T-Z and is being dropped off or driving their own vehicle, he or she will enter through the main doors. If your student rides the bus, he or she will enter through the doors near the greenhouse.

To exit the building at the end of the school day, the students who have upstairs classes 9th period will exit through the firehouse doors. The students with downstairs classes 9th period will exit through the main doors.

Check-in Procedure

Beginning Monday, October 26, your student's first period teacher will now take the student's temperature and ask if they can answer yes to any of the following questions: fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, or contact with anyone with Covid-19. Please, if your student can answer yes to any of these questions, do not send them to school.

Breakfast - UPDATE

If your student is eating breakfast at school, he or she will head straight to the cafeteria after completing the check-in process. The students will go through the line and purchase their breakfast. They will then go into the cafeteria to eat. After they are done eating, they will head straight to their first period class. Until the end of the school year, all students will be allowed to eat breakfast at no cost.

Class Changes

There are now 6 minutes between classes to allow for a staggered dismissal. It is imperative that we limit the number of students in the hallways to allow for social distancing. Classes will be dismissed in two minute increments.

Hallways/Stairwells

There are paw prints in the hallways to indicate the direction of the hallway. Students must strictly adhere to these. In the upstairs hallway, it is a one-way only. In the downstairs hallways, it is two-way. Students should pace themselves appropriately on the paw prints as they are walking in the hallways to and from class.

UPDATE

The middle stairwell will only be used as a down staircase for the following classrooms: Gonzalez, Probst, Lehman, Neal, Horton, Aiello, King, Howdyshell, Baucher, and Azeltine. The stairwell near the greenhouse doors will be an up staircase only, and the stairwell near the firehouse doors will be a down staircase only for all other upstairs classrooms. Again, students must follow these appropriately.

Lunch - UPDATE

There are 66 available seats in the lunchroom that are appropriately spaced apart. Students must sit at the tables where a paw print is shown. Chairs will also be placed at the paw prints. No tables or chairs will be moved.

Depending on the number of students who are buying their lunch (a count will be done in their first period class), there may be only one serving line; however, this could change. Students should stand on the paw prints outside the serving line as they wait to enter. They will also need to sanitize their hands before entering the serving line.

Students will be allowed to purchase miscellaneous snacks and drinks as they have before. They will be required to put their mask on when they get up from the tables, etc. to purchase these items.

Until the end of the school year, all students will be allowed to eat lunch at no cost. Any extras, snacks, etc. will still be charged a fee.

Parking - UPDATE

Parking passes are available now for purchase for $10 (cash or check only). A Google Form was emailed to all sophomores, juniors, and seniors. This Google Form must be filled out PRIOR to purchasing a pass. For this year only, parking will be on a first-come, first-serve basis (meaning no spots will be assigned). However, parking passes must still be visible in the student's car. Students are only allowed to park in the numbered spaces in the senior parking lot behind the gym or the numbered spaces on the side of the firehouse. Passes must be purchased by Friday, September 18. Email Mr. Alford with any questions.

Virtual Building Tour

If your student is new to LUHS or a freshman, please have him or her watch this video for a virtual building tour: https://youtu.be/SKKu_5BvEFM.

Schedule Changes - UPDATE

There will be no schedule changes. Schedule changes were offered on August 4, 5, and 6 after schedules were released through ProgressBook. We appreciate your understanding in this.

Visitors
No visitors will be allowed in the building. If you are picking up a student for an appointment, etc., please call the high school office to let Ms. George know the student is leaving, and the student will meet you outside. No drinks, lunch items, etc. will be allowed to be dropped off.

Miscellaneous Items

At the end of each class period, each student will sanitize their desk using a spray bottle and paper towel.

No lockers will be available. Students will need to carry their things in a backpack.

The water fountains have been turned off. Please have your student bring water to school. Water bottles can be purchased at lunch as well.

Masks must be worn at all times, except while the student is eating breakfast or lunch in the cafeteria. Students will not be allowed to enter the building without one. Masks will be provided as needed.

Only one student will be allowed in the restrooms at a time. If a student walks in, and another student is already inside the restroom, he or she will need wait, socially distanced, outside the restroom.

If needed, athletic bags must be placed in the locker rooms. They cannot be stored in the office or in classrooms.
